I am an archaeologist and geoarchaeologist working primarily on later prehistory in both Northwest Europe and Southeast Asia. I co-direct a 15-year excavation and field training project in Palawan Island, the Philippines, jointly with the Archaeological Studies Program in UP Diliman and the National Museum of the Philippines. Recently I have also been collating information regarding geoarchaeology standards of practice in the USA and EU. Previous and ongoing projects include research based in Laos, Malaysian Borneo, Japan, India, across the EU, UK - and even in Ireland! In addition to field research, I work as an archaeological soil micromorphologist, studying features, monuments, caves, and buried soils, looking at landscape history and use of space on sites. My teaching experience includes: geoarchaeology, landscape archaeology, environmental archaeology, the later prehistory of Britain, Southeast and East Asian archaeology, archaeological project management, and archaeological fieldwork. I was the chair of the organising committee for the 14th international European Association of Southeast Asian Archaeologists, held in Sept 2012 in Dublin at Dublin Castle and the Chester Beatty Library, and spent 2016-17 in the USA as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Washington.

My undergraduate degree is a double specialist honours BA from the University of Toronto, with specialisations in Archaeology, and Russian Language and Literature. I did an MSc in Environmental Archaeology and Palaeoeconomy at the University of Sheffield, and a PhD in Archaeology at the University of Cambridge. I also did a post-graduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education while on a fellowship at Oxford University.
